Special projects

Does only matter inhabit space? Or is there also the experience of those living that space, their relationship with the outside (nature) and the inside (their own body)?

In the 2024 edition, Rooms presents Inner Gardena hospitality project conceived by in.circle, in partnership with Atelierzero and cccppp.studio.

The exhibition, located in Hall D3 of InOut | The Contract Community 2024, comprises a single route consisting of four hotel room mock-ups that explore different concepts of hospitality for the future: Breathing, Listening, Walking and Touch.

These spaces stimulate the senses with sounds, natural materials, aromas and unexpected sights, sparking a conversation between man and technology, in which outside space affects the human soul, while the inner self influences the way we experience the environment.

Unsurprisingly, the names are both nouns and verbs: they invite us to do something and at the same time to be in the space, outside and inside the self.

While today's hotels have has vastly elevated the guest experience to a concrete, textured and aesthetic level, Rooms – Inner Garden invites us to go further, adding the design of sensations to the customer experience, rooted in the dialogue between the natural and artificial worlds. Every sense is taken care of here, where feeling becomes the fourth dimension of hospitality

BREATHING

An artificial forest harbours a typical hut. The small structure is made of sustainable materials and covered with mirrored surfaces, like a contemporary nest that conceals and protects three beehives and a room. The space is intimate and protected, perfect for meditation, relaxation and apitherapy. The experience of listening to the white noise of bees is almost hypnotic and heightened by the aromas of pollen, honey and propolis: here, tranquillity is a multisensory experience.

LISTENING

A threshold, a physical limit to be crossed, a door to be opened, a space in which to discover what the voice of plants sounds like. This space is entirely surrounded by textile doors resembling rolling waves; inside, a device makes the sounds of plants manifest, and they become music to be listened to. Two sensors, placed on the leaves, translate changes in the electrical impedance of plants and trees into musical notes.

WALKING

A circular bio-structure made of rice husk bricks conceals and reveals what goes on inside, telling the story of how waste materials come back to life in a circular building model. A tribute to lightness stands at its centre: a swarm of hand-painted butterflies swarm around the column that the inner garden revolves around. Visitors are invited to walk barefoot to rediscover the ancestral sensations bestowed by natural raw materials

TOUCH

An urban lawn stretches out on the ground, a spiral floats in the air: the sky. An origami-inspired process that allows a rigid material like wood to evolve into a three-dimensional form. This space is designed as a moment of respite with two different levels of contemplation: the real world and the imaginary world, offering a multi-faceted experience.

The installations were created with the valuable support of innovative design brands, leading companies in the world of materials, finishing and decoration: De Rerum, Dooor, Immerso Experience, Pictalab, Ricehouse, Vivaio Pesaresi, Wood-Skin.

Rooms-Inner Garden is intended, on the one hand, to encourage operators to explore new hospitality solutions to create truly extraordinary moments away from the domestic routine. And on the other, to allow visitors to live an experiencehuman, natural and intensified by cutting-edge technology – capable of initiating a conscious interaction with the external environment and with their own inner space.
