Beppe Tenti
Entrepreneur and founder of Overland
He is one of the leading figures in the world of tour operating. Employed as a surveyor until he was 30 and a member of the Italian Alpine Club, in 1967 he organized an expedition for the UGET section of Turin to Kilimanjaro. Forty-nine set off and all made it to the summit. Thunderstruck by the experience, in 1968 he led C.A.I. UGET members to Mexico, reaching the more than 5,000 meters of the Iztaccíhuatl, Popocatépetl and Pico de Orizaba volcanoes. In 1970 he founded the adventure travel agency Trekking International, which in 1995 became Overland and from that time, working with RAI 1, he never stopped traveling. He goes to the Himalayas and Nepal 48 times, to Peru 23 times, to northern Canada 15 times, sleeping in igloos built by the Inuit. He makes 272 broadcasts for RAI, always achieving record ratings. He writes books recounting his travels. His son Filippo continues his work as a documentary traveler.
