In the eyes of foreign tourists, our country tends to look more and more like a giant theme park. Art cities, as well as small villages and naturalistic places, lose their characteristics of lived-in places and turn into what the visitor expects to find, with stores, restaurants and services repeated in series. Add to this the fact that the gentrification and touristification of neighborhoods, villages, beach and mountain tourism destinations are pushing the less affluent segments of the population further and further to the margins, and demonstrations against overtourism are multiplying. Is it possible to reverse the trend and return the real Italy to tourists and residents? Is there a real boundary in tourism between authentic and artifact?
At the end of the meeting, organized by Legambiente, the award ceremony with the Ecotourism Oscars to the most virtuous case histories.
