Born in Pisa, a hydraulic engineer with a degree from the University of Tuscany, and current president of the Council of Directors of National Parks, he was director of the Montemarcello Magra Park and previously served at the Lunense Canal Reclamation and Irrigation Consortium and the Padule di Fucecchio Reclamation Consortium.Director pro tempore from July 2012 to 2014 and then Director from 2014 to 2019, in March 2020 he was confirmed by the Ministry in this role.
